COUNSELLOR

I qualified as a counsellor in 2007. Since then, I have worked in a range of educational settings including schools, colleges and universities. I know the importance of counselling personally - of someone providing an empathic and non-judgmental space to explore and express whatever is going on. If you feel this is something I could offer you, please get in touch. My approach to counselling is integrative - this means that I draw on a range of different therapeutic approaches in developing ways of working that are bespoke to each individual. However, my work is founded most on the person-centred approach which values empathy, warm acceptance and realness in the process of becoming fully 'us'. I work with children, young people and adults on whatever  issues may bring them to counselling. I have access to a counselling room in Darlington town centre as well as a garden office at home. I also offer counselling online via Zoom. I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work to their ethical standards. I have a Christian faith and can include prayer in counselling sessions on request - but this will NEVER be forced on you. I hold a PhD as well as Master's Degrees in Youth and Community Work and Counselling. I continue to teach part-time in higher education and tend to offer counselling mainly on Thursdays and Fridays. Alternative times may be possible however by negotiation - please feel free to ask! Please see the 'fees page' for further details.

I’m sure you’ll find my services helpful and inspiring. Get in touch to learn more.
